The Story of Buttons

Reviving Your Limping Pooch: A Rehabilitation Solution to Injury Instead of Surgery

Introducing Buttons, an energetic and delightful pup who unfortunately suffered a severe leg injury that left him limping and unable to bear weight on his left hindleg. Luckily, a dedicated rehabilitation program allowed him to return to his usual, playful self. We invite you to join us as we journey through the trials and triumphs of Buttons’ recovery.

Animal Background

Buttons, a seven-year-old Maltipoo, is known for his zest for life and close bond with his family and fellow canine brother. However, a devastating cranial cruciate ligament injury severely affected his mobility. Despite this setback, Buttons’ unyielding determination, coupled with the unwavering support from his family, fueled his journey towards recovery.

Initial Condition

The unfortunate jump that led to a partial tear in Buttons’ cranial cruciate ligament left him lame, unable to bear weight on his left hindleg. Faced with a surgery recommendation, his compassionate owner sought an alternative solution to restore Buttons to his cheerful, healthy self.

Treatment Plan

We crafted a customized, comprehensive treatment plan for Buttons, integrating various therapies such as laser, shockwave, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation. Alongside therapeutic exercises and hydrotherapy, Buttons was also provided a knee brace for additional support during his home care. We believed in this comprehensive approach for Buttons’ swift and complete recovery.

Progress and Milestones

Buttons’ recovery journey has been nothing short of amazing. Beginning with signs of pain relief in the second week, we soon observed him gradually putting partial weight on his injured leg. By week four, his range of motion improved, and he started to bear more weight on his left hindleg. The eleventh week marked a milestone as Buttons regained nearly full mobility. Though still weak, he persisted with his therapeutic exercises and hydrotherapy. By the twenty-second week, the sight of Buttons running and jumping filled us with immense pride and joy.

Outcome and Future

Buttons, once again, is enjoying life in all its fullness. His inspiring rehabilitation journey has restored his ability to walk and run, embracing an active lifestyle once more. Buttons’ remarkable recovery stands as a beacon of hope for others in similar situations and reinforces the effectiveness of rehabilitation. As we celebrate his achievements, we look forward to a future full of endless possibilities for Buttons and many others.

“Seeing my dog running around our home with such speed and strength in both his legs is incredibly heartening. Buttons’ recovery has been phenomenal! He’s not just active but also brimming with confidence after his recovery, so much so that he ended up injuring his right hind leg from a jump at the groomer. Given the success of his previous non-surgical treatment, we’ve decided to once again opt for the rehabilitation process for his right hindleg recovery.” – Rena Hooi
